Continuing App State students
You are a continuing student if you are/were enrolled in academic courses during the spring semester prior to the summer terms, Summer 1 and 2.

Returning App State students
You are a returning student if you have not been enrolled at App State for one or more semesters and plan to continue in your studies at Appalachian State University as a degree-seeking student (either as a graduate or an undergraduate).

Non-degree students who have attended App State
You are a non-degree student if you previously completed a semester or summer session at Appalachian State University as an undergraduate student and
- you plan to return to your parent institution after the summer session program, or
- you previously completed a semester or summer session at App State and now wish to take a course at App State for your own development.

Non-degree students who have not attended App State
You are a non-degree student if you have never attended Appalachian State University before and
- you plan to return to your parent institution after your summer session program, or
- you have not enrolled in an institution of higher education and wish to take a course at App State for your own development.

New undergraduate students
You are a new undergraduate student if you
- have never attended Appalachian before and you wish to apply to an undergraduate degree program,
- have graduate credit from Appalachian but have never taken an undergraduate course at Appalachian, or
- have been admitted for Fall semester.
